Fringe Festival Programme of Events

(This is the scheduled programme of events for the "BANTRY2012" Fringe Festival
( events are subject to change )
Friday 20th
: Music and fun in our maritime themed bars, hotels and restaurants
7.30pm   Terrier Racing  - Lower Car Park
 Saturday 21  :
 2.00 pm – 5.00 pm Scots & Irish Airs Pipe Bands
The Carrigaline and Ballingearry pipe bands     (Various street locations)
Sea Shanty Singers : Around the Town
8.00 pm Live and Free: Rock & Blues band Tin Pan Alley kick off our free gig series.
10.00 pm Twilight... A journey from light into darkness with music, song and stunning street performers.

Sunday 22
 2.00pm. Children’s Fancy Dress Parade / Face painters
A host of tricksters and clowns lead the parade through the streets.
(Lots of prizes - Assembly Barrack Street).
2.00 – 6.00 pm. Face painters, Jugglers, Clowns, Club displays, Fun and mayhem for all the family.
Live and Free:
4.00pm. Twelve Bells (sea shanties)
8.00pm. The Roaring 40's swing and jazz band
10.00pm The Cujo Family (Waltzing Ballads to Brilliant Rock)

Friday 27  :
9.00am – 5.00pm : Visit the busy Street Market and artisan food stalls. Check out the art exhibition. Enjoy a coffee and tasty lunch at the many local restaurants.

10.00pm. Ruby & the Nighthawks
Saturday 28 
 Pirate's Day
12.00 Pirates Flotilla   )TBC)
Cut-throat raiders sail on the tide to ransack Bantry's treasure.
1.00 – 6.00pm The Great Pirate Party... for kids from 2 to 92, join the motley crew.
Live and Free:
3.30pm Latin Express (Salsa party rhythms of South America)
6.00 pm. Presentation of prizes competition winners –art photo etc ?????? enge.
8.00 pm. CoCoMoJo - Play that funky music white boy
10.00 pm. The Calvinists (Alt. Folk- Americana)

Sunday 29th
Sea Shenanigans: Sea Sheananigans:
Traditional Boat Festival: An array of boats from our Maritime history converge on Bantry bay
Windsurfing: Around Whiddy Windsurfing Challenge. Surfers from all over Ireland come to take on this difficult challenge of Skill & Stamina
Currach Racing: Traditional Irish boats put on a display of sport from our maritime heritage
Marconi Cup Junior Sailing Race
Lifeboat Open Day : See our local Volunteer Inshore Rescue in action
Irish Wind Surfing Event –round Whiddy Race
 Raft race - Air and Sea Rescue - Naval boarding exercise - Thrax Tug Water Cannon - - Traditional Naomhógs & wooden boats.
11.00 – 5.00pm Bantry Bay Festival of Food
A celebration of all that the Bantry Bay area has to offer in terms of culinary delights.
Location: Harbour View car park
Rock The Boat Baby - Music of every genre on the streets and in the bars.
2.00pm Shavers Only (Contemporary Irish / Folk)
4.00pm The Hard Ground (Rocky Folk with a hint of Blues)
8.00pm The Lee Valley String Band (Old time country & blue grass)
10.00pm Colourfield (All the Rock Classics)
11.30pm Light up the sky... a not to be missed fireworks spectacular.
